Just want to give a quick thank you to Liz Lanuzo of projectvanity.com, Luxasia(Audrey C.) and Za Cosmetics for the giveaway prize I won over at Liz’s blog. And of course, my friend Tdex for picking it up for me. Thank you!
I’ve lost count as to how many times I’ve raped the replay button on these videos:
Watched this countless times last September. Had the best laugh at Zooey Deschanel!
And my Most Laughed At Youtube Video goes to:
It has definitely taken a long while to find my perfect scent.
And finally I’ve found the perfect description to the scent that I truly enjoy.
If I were to describe it, I would want to smell like I take baths in fresh expensive water.
How luxurious is that?
After trying out so many scents and annoying perfume sales assistants with descriptions only I can understand, I’ve finally been able to pin down what “fresh expensive water” is – clean, aquatic and all about lilies.
Enter Marks and Spencer’s Autograph Isis Eau de Toilette, regarded as an impression of L’eau d’Issey Eau de Parfum Issey Miyake for women:
I don’t really read perfume descriptions in boxes so I was going over scent over scent at Marks and Spencer. I had spritzed Autograph Cotton on my left wrist which opened really nicely while Autograph Isis reeked of alcohol. But I’m never about how a scent opens up, I’m all about how it dries down. Ten minutes in, I took a sniff of both wrists, Cotton turned out to be D & G Light Blue which I wasn’t a fan of while Autograph Isis smelled clean, fresh and so me. Even a friend said so.
I didn’t purchase it right there and then of course. Php599 is still hard earned money, you know. Five hours after, I can still smell that fresh scent on my right wrist. I was sniffing happily every 20 minutes. #high
According to fragnatica.com, “Isis by Marks and Spencer is a Floral Aquatic fragrance for women. Isis was launched in 2011. Top note is sea notes; middle notes are rose, violet and lily-of-the-valley; base note is cedar.”
I don’t know how cedar smells (isn’t that a tree?) but all through out it’s wear which was more than 5 hours, I could still smell the freshness. Impressed and happy that finally I found a scent that is cheaper, easy to find, easy to travel with and has amazing longevity for a eau de toilette. While it’s a definite spring/summer scent, it can still go well with the rainy weather, think rainforest and beach.
No questions asked, definitely repurchasing. This is so my eau de toilette scent. Finally!
I like Youtube. By a lot!
If there’s a video I enjoy, I obsess over it and play it over and over again.
(Therefore, I add up to the views of a video)!
I talk about the videos I like to friends and nag them to find time to watch. And I don’t stop nagging until they tell me they’ve seen it.
Here’s a video I can’t stop watching.
It’s cuteness overload. Soooo precious. And that’s from someone who stays away from kids! Just can’t stand kids these days. (Parenting skills nowadays have become horrible!)
It’s my Youtube video of the month!
Kayla loves the moon by denmoff77(Kayla’s father’s channel)
One more thing, I just need to get this off my chest:
Harlem Shake, really?
Why people put so much effort into making Harlem Shake videos boggles my mind.
After I think more than a year, I finally am uploading the camera photos to my wordpress only to find out that the image settings were smaller than the usual image size. #epicfail!
But I’m too lazy to retake any photos so here are some updated blogposts. Just in case anyone wants to see a clearer photo of something I posted in the past:
Now blogrollin’ with more fail photos! Prolly will have 3 or 2 up by the end of the day!
Drum Roll Please!!!
The giveaway prize I won has finally arrived!!!! Online giveaways are real y’all!!!!
I actually got this last August 2 all the way from shannonmillerlifestyle.com!
(Shoutout to Ken Harper and Lauren Domene of shannonmillerlifestyle.com for contacting me! And of course to Shannon Miller for hosting this giveaway!!)
Little trivia, I’m a huge fan of the Magnificent 7 all the way from ’96.
Now I know there’s a new breed of American gymnasts but no one can ever beat the 1996 Olympic US Gymnastics Team. #fact
And Shannon Miller was my favorite..ok there was Dominique Dawes too and the cuteness that was Dominique Moceanu.
So back to what I won:
My mother now has the cream. But I was able to try it when I got it. So I can’t make a full good review on it. But here’s my little take on it: It feels so good on that hands and I feel like it’s really nourishing. The cream has the right amoung of richness. The downside to the hand cream though is the scent. I know it’s made up of a lot of natural ingredients but the scent was just off putting. As my officemate would put it, it smells like the “stench” that comes out of an open casket with a dead person in it.(Lol! That’s how the dead rolls here in the Philippines!) And with that, I wouldn’t use it during the day before going out. I’d use it at night though when I’m about to go to bed or when I’m done with the dishes and the laundry but would only leave home when the scent has disappeared.
But yes, it is a rich nourishing cream that I wish I could use everyday.
I think I’ll ask my mom to put the cream in the fridge. Let’s see what happens.
Last Week in my World…
Finally won something!
About last week, I had won an Yves Rocher handcream over at shannonmillerlifestyle.com YEY!!! I’m more excited about the fact that I had won a raffle giveaway.
I’ve emailed my shipping address but have not received a reply so Im not too sure if I’ll ever get to receive it. But at least I can say I won a raffle!!!
Then something funny really happened last week, high school crush posted a comment on one of my status. Oh memories of high school. It was cute and sweet but it’s all in the past.
Then I tried using the Neutrogena HydroBoost Water Gel one more time after swearing never to use it again the first time I used it. My pores went larger again! So never again. To Neutrogena, Can I return it and get a refund and get some pore treatment?
2 weeks ago I saw 3 movies, The Hunger Games, Hello Stranger and The Vow. If I were to watch one of the 3 films again, I think I’d have the stomach to watch Hello Stranger.
Not my favorite movie but there are scenes in there that I really liked that I wish Filipino cinematographers can execute in their films. To Filipino Movie Makers, if you were to make cheesy movies please for the love of God, do it with a lot of heart and don’t just do it for the paycheck (lookin’ at you Star Cinema, who I remember back in the day made really good movies, although the endings are always cliche -Madrasta, Magic Temple, AngTV the movie, Batang PX, Separada, Sana Maulit Muli, Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara, Sarah ang munting Prinsesa, Pare Ko(I can watch this over and over again), Bata Bata Paano Ka Ginawa (my all time favorite Filipino movie), Dekada 70, Ang Lalake Sa Buhay ni Selya (which I only saw snippets as a kid and gave me an impression that it was a good film and I should watch it when I turn 18..unfortunately I havent seen it yet now that I’m 27 :( ), Anak, and Got 2 Believe which I think started all these love song titled films. The difference between Got 2 Believe and all these Star Cinema manufactured romcoms was….everything! From story to actors to editing. I’m even convinced that 27 Dresses stole its story from Got 2 Believe but never got to be better than the latter.
Wait, why am I talking about all these Filipino movies??
Getting back on track.
Speaking of movies, and Filipino movies at that (which I had no intention of talking about), I heard that the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) is discouraging Foreign Acts to stage performances in the country because they feel that it’s trumping the OPM industry.
Please allow me to put my 2 cents in.
Dear OPM, How in the world do you expect us to support you when all you come up with are renditions of foreign and local songs????
When was the last time any of you came up with an all original album?
When was the last time you launched an original song with much creativity??
Any independent artist can easily answer my question but to OPM, when was the last time you supported the independent artists?? When you have these indie acts or bands on your variety shows, why in the world must you put in one of your mainstay singers only to murder the song?!! That’s very disrespectful and I am always offended by that.
In variety shows, what songs do you perform to? Are they yours? Or are they from foreign acts like Lady Gaga and Beyonce? No need for you to answer.
So to OPM, stop complaining to consumers at how you’re not getting enough support when you’re not in fact giving us consumers any type of creative output.
Everytime you stage large events, you always end it by singing Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika over and over and over again.
I’m so sick of it.
Look at KPop, they have their own songs, now look at you, you’re trying to be KPop. Can’t you tell why no one’s willing to shell out money for you?
If I had 5,000 Pesos to watch either Jessie J or Pops Fernandez on the same night, who do you think would I pick?
Now I ask you the same question.
Now I need me a drink.
This is going to be a quick review of the Prestige Wonder Full Lip Plumping Gloss in POSH which I got last night from a relative.
I’ve always wondered if plumping glosses work, if they can indeed make my thin lips fuller cause I’ve no clue how in the world of science they can do that. All I know is plumping glosses are spicy and tingles the lips to make them swell. If I wanted my lips to swell then all I have to do is bring out a sweet candy and let the red ants come for it and lead them to my lips. #cannibalism
I had every intention of ignoring this lip gloss but after seeing how it rated 4.6 on makeupalley.com, I took it out for a road test.
I was so keen on seeing it work, I forgot to take a before and after photo :( but I did take down notes while my lips were glossed with it:
1. The formula has this more solid consistency compared to average lip glosses, has shimmer but hardly shows up on your lips which is comforting to know, and smells like sweet vanilla.
2. Minty feel on the lips lasts for 2 and a half hours. I realized that “feel” made me pout.
3. It’s not sticky or gummy.
4. Gloss lasts for about 5 hours on lips even after light eating and smoking.
5. I didn’t feel my lips swelling and getting inflamed(like as if I’ve been bitten by an ant or was injecting them with collagen). So not sure about the plumping part but pout I did!
6. The gloss comes out pretty strong on the lips which helps in deflecting light and giving the illusion of bigger lips but is bordering ohmigod-she-drinks-oil so a little goes a long way with this one. (It has a net weight of 7ml)
7. Doesn’t remove/erase the lip color put under it.
8. It didn’t dry my lips..
I dropped by Beauty Bar last Saturday and saw this in the Prestige counter. They sell this for 395 pesos.
Not bad. Though, they were only selling 4 shades. I didn’t even see the shade that I own (the clear one).
Well good thing I slapped off my being a snob because I ended up really liking this gloss and now prefer it over the other glosses that I own(high end ones not included since I don’t own one).
I don’t know if I’m going to pick it up for plumping purposes but if I needed a gloss that I can rely on then it would definitely be this one.
1. James Massone made it through to the live shows in The Voice Season 2.
Waiting for his battle round was both exciting and agonizing. I had to wait for about 5 weeks until I could watch him again and my brain was going nuts as to who he was battling with. I had fingers crossed that it wouldn’t be Jamar Rogers(because Jamar would just trump him, or anyone actually) nor Erin Martin(because Cee-lo will definitely look past singing capabilities).
Well thank God he was paired against Wade. Though I agree that his arrangement of Rehab was “cool and funk-eyh”, it was just that. The kid just can’t control his notes. I did not enjoy how he vocally butchered Rehab. But but but, if coached, he will be one to watch out for.
So hurrah for James ♥ and Me ♥
Bring in the giggles!
2. Mmmboping my way to the Hanson concert this Saturday!
Finally, my friend and I have our tickets to the Hanson concert this Saturday which I’m absolutely excited about.
So I have about 3 days to relearn all Hanson songs but I’m sure I’ve got the lo-down on Mmbop and Where’s the love.
So they better play those songs!
3. Finally finally found the perfume that got me into scents. I was never into scents be it perfumes or colognes but sometime last year, in a liquor shop, a lady in her early 30s passed by me and I got a whiff of the scent she was wearing. It was fresh but not the soap fresh kind. It was the cool fresh outdoor kind that’s not for teens. I failed to ask the lady what she was wearing so I had to search for it by subjecting my nose to every single perfume bottle I can find in department stores including some god-awful scents that were inexplicably expensive. I was always referred to D&G Light Blue, Moschino I Love Love, Clinique Happy, Armani’s Acqua di Gioia but none of them came close to what I wanted. And finally, after months and months of searching, I finally found the correct scent. I was at Rustan’s waiting for my friend to get those Hanson tickets when I asked the SA over the perfume counter for:
perfume that smells fresh just like as if I stepped out of the shower
SA: Brings out box of Clean Warm Cotton. “Try This”
Me: Sniffs. “No not this, something fresh, garden fresh but not floral”
SA: Points to Clean Outdoor Fresh. “We don’t have tester for that”
SA: Points to Versace Yellow Diamond tester
ME: Sniffs. “No, fresh”
SA: Brings out Moschino Funny.
ME: Sniffs. “Less sweet than this”
SA: Brings out Loewe Aire Loco. “This is exactly what you’re looking for”
Me: Sniffs. “Homaygahd! This! This! Finally!” Runs to friend whose getting a MAC makeover. “This is the scent of that girl from the liquor shop!!!”
Runs back to the SA.
Me: “What’s this?”
SA: “Ma’am, that’s a high end brand, Louis Vuitton”
Me: “What’s the name”
SA: “Ay-ri Lo-co by Lo-veh”
Me and Friend: “Huh? Again, again.”
SA: “AY-REE LO-COH by LO-VEH. It’s 3,800 for the small bottle.”
Me and Friend: “OK. That.”
Me to Friend: “I need to find a boyfriend who can buy me that!”
